Energy Bites Recipe for Athletes

Before we get into the recipe, I want to talk about why energy bites are so great for athletes!

High school athletes need a lot of calories to keep up with the demands of their bodies. Unfortunately, high school vending machines might not offer the best options when it comes to fueling your body for performance. For this reason, packing a snack is key!

Energy bites are a great snack for several reasons:

1. Energy Bites are Customizable

You can include more ingredients to increase the tastiness of your energy bites, or you can exclude the ingredients that you don’t like. That’s the beauty of making your snacks at home.

2. Easy to Make in Excess

The energy bites recipe below can be easily doubled or tripled to make as many bites at one time as possible. Since these snacks don’t need to be refrigerated, they are shelf-stable for a long time!

3. Easy to Pack & Consume

For a lot of high school athletes, consuming enough calories during the school day is difficult when teachers won’t let you eat in class. Luckily, this snack is one that’s easy to eat between classes!

4. Calories are Customizable

In addition to customizing the ingredients, you can customize the caloric intake! If you are an athlete that needs more calories, pack 3 energy bites. If you don’t need that many, pack one or two.

5. Healthy, Less-Processed Snack Option

Finally, energy bites serve as a less processed option for snacking. Comparing energy bites to a granola bar:
